Shinto is the ancient faith of the Japanese people and as old as Japan itself. Shinto beliefs focus on the existence of the kami or gods that exist in the world, in nature and throughout Japan. Without scriptures, Shinto is an overall perspective more than a simple set of beliefs.
Iron Dragon tsuba
The Shinto Katana from Paul Chen / Hanwei has a hand-forged T10 high-carbon steel blade with bo-hi. The blade on this katana is differentially hardened using the traditional claying method. The Shinto Katana is mounted in black and the tsuka-ito is made of premium black Japanese cotton. The saya is finished in a deep black lacquer with a black cotton sageo. A finely rendered dragon, detailed in gold, with true front-and-back detail, forms the black iron tsuba. The fittings are superbly antiqued adding to the aesthetics of the piece. The Shinto katana from Hanwei is supplied with a protective cloth bag and traditional maintenance kit. This sword comes pre-sharpened for the martial artist and tameshigiri cutting.
