Comte de Nieuwerkerke Sword, 14th C (based on type XV) The sword was initially a part of the Comte de Nieuwerkerke collection, and now a part of the Wallace Collection, London (A.460). It is dated c. 1350-1400. The sword has a Straight tapering with diamond cross-section and a sharp point. Many Type XV fall within the terminology of swords commonly called “bastard” or “hand-and-a-half swords” in reference to the longer grips that allowed both one and two handed use. Deepeekas replica comes complete with a scabbard, has a full tang, and is heat treated to a Rockwell of 48-52.
